Applying from uOttawa

If you are already a student at uOttawa, you may still enrol in French Immersion Studies and complete your program with a French Immersion diploma. You will have to meet with an academic advisor or the French Immersion Studies staff.

If you would like to remain in your current program:
  1. Contact the French Immersion Studies office and fill out a Change of Program form to indicate the addition of the immersion option to your program. You may also do this at your faculty office.
  2. Pass the Immersion Admission Test, unless you have already taken a qualifying FLS course (FLS 2521 or higher).
  3. Contact an immersion mentor to help you select courses in French and build an immersion study plan. Depending on the results of your admission test, your program requirements, and your personal ambitions, the mentor will help you choose courses and create a study plan that fits your level of proficiency in French and your personal language goals.
If you would like to switch programs or faculties:
  1. Visit your faculty office to fill out the appropriate forms. You must meet the requirements of your new program, and it must also offer the French immersion option. Fill out a University of Ottawa application form (A2) and make sure to indicate that you would like French immersion with your new program.
